More Voting Phenom ...

I bought a copy of that old standby of splash photos and quick journalism. No silly, not People! I picked up a copy of National Geographic. I couldn't help it. There was a pretty green lizard on the cover. Anyhoo, there's nice, appalling Global Voting Stats in the Geographica section -

Percentage of Population Voting for National Leader:
Belarus 81%
Peru 79%
Finland 77%
Croatia 74%
Kyrgyzstan 74%
U.S. 49%

Unfuckingbelievable. Does anyone even know WHERE Belarus is?! It sounds like the name of a Greek side dish.

And Kyrgyzstan? KYRGYZSTAN?!!! It's a nuclear waste site on the southern edge of the former Soviet Union with oriental Muslims who ride camels, eat yak yogurt and have mutant children due to all the horrible toxic waste. Some of them illegally immigrated to Afganistan for the UPGRADE in real estate!

Okay, I have LOST it people. RADIATED MUTANTS IN B.F.E. HAVE A HIGHER VOTER TURNOUT THAN THE U.S.A.!

I know, I know, high voter turnout does not necessarily a great democracy make, but still ... 74% of RADIATED MUTANTS turn out to mark a ballot?! Jumpin' Jesus on a surf board!
